Shipping Containers with Roll-Up Doors
You can get a shipping container with a roll-up door three ways: a storage unit that comes with roll-up doors, from $6,360 for a 20ft with two; a door a seller’s shop welds into the container you buy, for delivery in Oregon and Washington, from $1,950 plus the container; or a kit you fit yourself, from $617. All three are priced this week before delivery and sales tax; each seller’s quote gives the delivered price and date for your address.

Roll-up storage containers
These are storage containers that arrive with the roll-up doors already framed and welded in: two on the 20ft, three on the 40ft high cube. Units of this kind usually keep their cargo doors at one end and line the roll-up doors along one long side, so each door opens onto its own stretch of the container. The width of the doors, the side they’re on and whether the container under them is new (one-trip) or used vary by seller: ask each one.

A roll-up door installed at the shop
In Oregon and Washington, a seller’s shop frames and welds a roll-up door into the container you buy before it’s delivered, with its tracks, springs and weather seals. A 7′ door is $1,950 and a 10′ door $2,395 (as of Oct 21, 2026), and the container is priced on its own. Delivery usually follows one to two weeks after you accept the quote. The same shop can also fit a door on site, at extra cost, on quote. Outside those two states, ask for a quote.
Fitting one yourself
With a welder and some steel work, the roll-up door kit does the job on a standard or high cube container: 16 sizes from $617, plus a framing kit welded around the opening, a threshold plate at the bottom and, for a door at the end, a header plate. How it goes in, side wall or end: installation steps.
Guarantee
For the roll-up storage units and doors installed at a shop:
The seller’s guarantee. For a modified container, what the seller guarantees on the container and on the work done to it, what you can refuse at delivery and how you pay are its own; check that each quote puts them in writing. An A/C, where fitted, also carries its manufacturer’s warranty. Our service is free, and you don’t have to accept any quote. What to check in a quote.
If you fit a kit door yourself, ask the seller how that affects its guarantee: see the kit page. Shipping to your site comes in the same quote: delivery cost and site checklist.
Frequently asked questions
What are the benefits of a shipping container with a roll-up door?
Easier daily access. A roll-up door is quick to open, close and lock, it coils up overhead so it needs no clear space in front, and its wide opening takes lawn and sports equipment, a forklift or a hand truck, or a vehicle. Two or three doors along one side let you reach each part of the load without unpacking from the end, or split the container into separate bays.
How much does a shipping container with a roll-up door cost?
This week, not counting delivery and sales tax: $6,360 for a 20ft storage unit with two roll-up doors or $12,720 for a 40ft high cube with three; $1,950 and up to have a 7′ door installed at the shop in Oregon and Washington, plus the container; $617 and up for a kit you fit yourself, plus its framing kit and threshold plate.
What are the door dimensions for a 20 ft container, and what roll-up door fits?
The cargo door opening is about 7′8″ × 7′6″ on a standard 20ft and about 7′8″ × 8′6″ on a high cube, the same width as on a 40ft or a 10ft, so a door about 7′ wide fits at the end, in place of the cargo doors. In a side wall, widths run from 4′ up to 12′, and the shop installs 7′ or 10′ doors. Every kit size and price.
Where can I find a roll-up door kit for my shipping container?
Here: our roll-up door kit comes in 16 sizes for standard and high cube containers, with the framing kit, threshold and header plates sold alongside it.
Can a roll-up door go on a container I already own?
Yes. Fit a kit yourself, or in Oregon and Washington have a seller’s shop install it on site, at extra cost; elsewhere, ask for a quote for the installation.
